A Pella High School student is recovering after she was run over by a school bus Monday.
Police say Abby Fyfe was running with a friend Monday afternoon when she tripped and fell outside of the high school. That’s when a slow-moving bus ran over her legs. The driver heard Abby scream and stopped the bus.
According to the Pella High School Cross Country Facebook page, Abby underwent surgery Tuesday for a spiral fracture of her right tibia. During surgery another fracture was found.
Abby is in good spirits and is expected to be released from the hospital Wednesday.
Pella police say the driver of the bus will not face charges.
