WEST POINT: Congressman Congratulates Nominee | Events
Pella resident Michael Etnyre has been selected to attend the U.S. Military Academy at West Point next year. Michael is the son of Jennifer and Andrew Etnyre.
To get the selection, Michael had to be first nominated by his congressman. In his case Dave Loebsack was pleased to last year prior to the congressman’s redistricting.
“Michael’s selection is recognition of his hard work and determination,” said Loebsack. “As a military parent with kids who attended the Naval Academy, I know how much this selection means to Michael and his family. Every Iowan should be proud of Michael’s future service to our nation.”
Each year, Congressman Dave Loebsack nominates up to ten Iowans for every opening at each Academy, with final selection for admission made by the individual Academy from that group of ten.
Students can specialize in a variety of fields at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, as well as the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, the Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, and the Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point.
