BASKETBALL EVENT: Coaches Vs. Cancer | Community Spirit
The Knoxville Girls Basketball team will be hosting their 5th Annual Coaches vs. Cancer Event this Saturday, January 19th.
The event has gone from strength to strength since its inception 4 years ago. The team has raised a total of $86,566.00 for the American Cancer Society, growing from $4,000 in the first year to over $41,000 in 2012.
This event is led by the Girls head basketball coach, Jim Uitermarkt and his wife, Angie who are both teachers in the Knoxville School District.
The organizers say it will be a full day of events starting with Alumni Games, including a girls 6 on 6 game.
Prior to the Varsity Girls tipping off at 6:15 p.m., there will be a ceremony to honor cancer survivors and some battling cancer.
